Petersfield Town Centre & Parking Guide

Car parks, parking options, and how to get around Petersfield town centre.

Petersfield.co13 July 2026

Petersfield town centre is compact and walkable, but parking is available for those arriving by car. This guide covers the main car parks and parking options.

Main Car Parks

Petersfield Station Car Park
Located near Petersfield railway station, this car park offers 154 spaces. It's convenient if you're arriving by train or if you need longer-term parking.

Central Car Park
Short-stay car park in the town centre with a 3-hour maximum stay. Suitable for shopping and town-centre visits.

Causeway Car Park
Also a short-stay facility (3-hour maximum). Another central option for quick visits to the high street and market square.

Swan Street Car Park
Long-stay parking option for those needing to leave their car in town for extended periods.

Parking Charges

Parking is charged Monday to Saturday, 8am–6pm, and Sunday 10am–4pm. Outside these hours parking is typically free.

Tariffs vary by car park and length of stay. Specific pricing information comes from aggregator sources (JustPark/Parkopedia) rather than the council's official rate card. Please check East Hampshire District Council's website (easthants.gov.uk) for current, verified charges before visiting, as rates can change seasonally.

A typical short stay in the town centre costs a few pounds for a couple of hours.

Electric Vehicle Charging

EV charging points are available at:
- Central Car Park
- Town Hall
- Penns Place

Growing EV provision reflects Petersfield's sustainability efforts and makes electric-vehicle visits increasingly straightforward.

Accessing the Town Centre

Most town-centre car parks are within a 5–10 minute walk of Market Square and the High Street. The layout is compact, so parking in any central car park gives good access to shops, restaurants, and town-centre attractions.

Petersfield railway station is at the southern end of the town centre, around a 5-minute walk from the High Street.

Disabled Parking

Disabled badge holders can typically park in dedicated spaces in the main car parks. Check the car park signage or contact the town council for specific arrangements.
